On 24 November 2015, at the border between Turkey and Syria, the [[Turkish Air Force]] shot down a Russian [[Sukhoi]] attack aircraft. The Turks claimed that the aircraft violated Turkish [[airspace]], a claim denied by the Russians; the plane was in the region as part of the [[Russian military intervention in the Syrian civil war]], in which Turkey supported opposing forces.
