====Ballistic missile submarines (SSBN)====
The Royal Navy operates four {{sclass|Vanguard|submarine|0}} [[ballistic missile submarine]]s displacing nearly 16,000 tonnes and equipped with Trident II missiles (armed with [[Nuclear weapons and the United Kingdom|nuclear weapons]]) and heavyweight [[Spearfish torpedo]]es, to carry out Operation Relentless, the United Kingdom's Continuous At Sea Deterrent (CASD).
