===Island Council===
The [[Island council (Netherlands)|island council]] is the local, democratically elected parliament. It is the highest governing body in the public body{{clarify|date=October 2023}} and is responsible for local legislation. Executive power is held by the Crown-appointed governor and the island deputies appointed by the island council. The Three main political parties are the [[Bonaire People's Movement]] led by [[Elvis Tjin Asjoe]], the [[Bonaire Patriotic Union]] led by [[Esther Bernabela]] and the [[Bonaire Democratic Party]] led by [[Clark Abraham]]. Smaller parties include [[Movement 21 (Bonaire)|Movement 21]] and [[Bonaire Social Party]]
