On 31 December 2019, the Bluetooth SIG published the Bluetooth Core Specification version 5.2. * [[Bluetooth Low Energy#Audio|LE Audio]] that is built on top of the new 5.2 features. BT LE Audio was announced in January 2020 at [[Consumer Electronics Show|CES]] by the [[Bluetooth Special Interest Group|Bluetooth SIG]]. Compared to regular Bluetooth Audio, Bluetooth Low Energy Audio makes lower battery consumption possible and creates a standardized way of transmitting audio over BT LE.
