Script typefaces imitate handwriting or [[calligraphy]]. They do not lend themselves to quantities of [[body text]], as people find them harder to read than many serif and sans-serif typefaces; they are typically used for logos or invitations. Historically, most lettering on logos, displays, shop frontages did not use fonts but was rather custom-designed by signpainters and engravers, so many emulate the styles of hand-drawn signs from different historical periods.
