==Notable people== {{Main|List of people from Salford}} People from Salford are called Salfordians, the city has been the birthplace to notable people of national and international acclaim. [[Joy Division]] were an English rock band formed in Salford in 1976. The group consisted of vocalist [[Ian Curtis]], guitarist/keyboardist [[Bernard Sumner]], bassist [[Peter Hook]] and drummer [[Stephen Morris (musician)|Stephen Morris]] which later reformed as [[New Order (band)|New Order]] in wake of Curtis' death in 1980.
