The major through route in Bentonville is [[Interstate 49]]/[[U.S. Route 71 in Arkansas|US 71]]. This [[Controlled-access highway|fully controlled access]], four-lane expressway is a discontinuous piece of a route ultimately planned to connect [[Kansas City, Missouri]] to [[New Orleans, Louisiana]]. Future plans for the I-49 corridor include completion of a freeway segment through between [[Fort Smith, Arkansas|Fort Smith]] and [[Texarkana, Arkansas|Texarkana]].
