With respect to tools, ambidextrous may be used to mean that the tool may be used equally well with either hand; an "ambidextrous knife" refers to the opening mechanism and locking mechanism on a folding knife. Many knives are sold sharpened asymmetrically for right-hand use, and resharpened in the same way.
