=== Accessibility === The SkyTrain network is fully mobility-needs accessible, including vehicles and stations. Mark I train cars have one designated wheelchair position, Mark II, Mark III and [[Hyundai Rotem]] cars have two, and all stations have elevators. TransLink upgraded all Expo Line platform station edges to match those on the Millennium Line shortly after it was completed. The new, wider edges are brighter and are tiled to provide a safer environment for the visually impaired. The Canada Line also uses this safety feature in its stations.<ref>{{cite news |last=Thomas |first=Sandra |url=http://archive.vancourier.com/issues02/113102/news/113102nn9.html |title=TransLink putting in tactile strips on Expo Line to help visually impaired |work=The Vancouver Courier |date=August 5, 2005 |access-date=March 18, 2009 |archive-url=https://archive.today/20090911040715/http://archive.vancourier.com/issues02/113102/news/113102nn9.html |archive-date=September 11, 2009}}</ref> Since the opening of the Millennium Line, aside from platform tile upgrading, many Expo line stations have also been refitted with new signage and ticket vending machines. Accessibility is provided for deaf individuals through real-time English signage and displays at stations and on newer trains, although a reliance on verbal communication for service disruptions has been identified as a transportation barrier.<ref name="TranslinkAccessibility23">{{Cite report |url=https://www.translink.ca/-/media/translink/documents/rider-guide/transit-accessibility/accessibility-plan/2023_translink_accessibility_plan.pdf |title=Accessibility Plan 2023 |date=2023 |access-date=2024-01-03}}</ref>{{rp|33}} The distinctive three-tone chime used in the SkyTrain system was recorded in 1984β85 at [[Little Mountain Sound Studios]] in Vancouver.<ref>{{cite web |url=http://buzzer.translink.ca/index.php/2008/12/podcast-the-story-of-the-skytrain-chime/ |title=Podcast: the story of the SkyTrain chime |work=The Buzzer blog |publisher=The Buzzer Blog (TransLink) |date=December 1, 2008 |access-date=May 26, 2009 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20090910012445/http://buzzer.translink.ca/index.php/2008/12/podcast-the-story-of-the-skytrain-chime/ |archive-date=September 10, 2009 |url-status=live}}</ref> The automated train announcements have been voiced by Laureen Regan since the opening of the Millennium Line in 2002, and by Karen Kelm between 1985 and 2001.<ref>{{cite web |url=http://buzzer.translink.ca/index.php/2008/10/buzzer-podcast-voice-of-the-skytrain/ |title=Buzzer Podcast: Voice of the SkyTrain |work=The Buzzer blog |publisher=The Buzzer Blog (TransLink) |date=October 20, 2008 |access-date=May 26, 2009 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20090819025936/http://buzzer.translink.ca/index.php/2008/10/buzzer-podcast-voice-of-the-skytrain/ |archive-date=August 19, 2009 |url-status=live}}</ref>
