2011 Earth Day events included an environmental forum for local political leaders and the first-ever Earth Day celebration in Tunis City and primary school events throughout Iraq. In 17 of the world's most severely [[deforestation|deforested]] countries, Earth Day Network completed a project to plant over 1.1&nbsp;million trees.
