An album inspired by the series, ''[[The Beavis and Butt-Head Experience]]'', was released on [[Geffen Records]]. The label's namesake, David Geffen, came up with the concept for the album. He was sold on the show's success upon its debut, and contacted MTV to make a deal to co-finance the album and later film.<ref name="Eller 1997 h079"/> The album features many [[hard rock]] and [[heavy metal music|heavy metal]] bands such as [[Megadeth]], [[Primus (band)|Primus]], [[Nirvana (band)|Nirvana]] and [[White Zombie (band)|White Zombie]].
