The [[monoclonal antibody]] [[bezlotoxumab]], for example, has been approved by the [[Food and Drug Administration|US FDA]] and [[European Medicines Agency|EMA]] for recurrent [[Clostridioides difficile infection]], and other monoclonal antibodies are in development (e.g. AR-301 for the adjunctive treatment of ''S. aureus'' [[ventilator-associated pneumonia]]). Antibody treatments act by binding to and neutralizing bacterial exotoxins and other virulence factors.<ref name="pmid31295426"/><ref name="pmid30683453"/>
