They compete in the [[Mid-American Conference]] in [[Western Michigan Broncos men's basketball|men's basketball]], baseball, [[Western Michigan Broncos football|football]], soccer and tennis; and women's basketball, cross-country, golf, gymnastics, soccer, softball, track and field, and volleyball. The [[Western Michigan Broncos men's ice hockey|men's hockey]] team competes in the [[National Collegiate Hockey Conference]].{{citation needed|date=September 2024}} The Western Michigan Broncos main rival is the [[Central Michigan Chippewas]] who also compete in the Mid-American Conference.{{citation needed|date=September 2024}} The Broncos have won three NCAA national championships.
