The university works closely with members of the Armed Forces.<ref name="profile2005"/> It provides professional military educators in the [[British Army]] to study for a [[Postgraduate Certificate in Education]] (PGCE). The university also works with the [[Royal Navy]] to provide training and qualifications towards [[Chartered Engineer (UK)|Chartered Engineer]] status.<ref name="profile2005"/>
