Sony axed its loss-making PC business in 2014.]] Sony produced computers ({{ill|SMC-777|jp|SMC-777}} personal computer, [[MSX]] [[home computer]]s and [[Sony NEWS|NEWS]] [[workstation]]s) during the 1980s. The company withdrew from the computer business around 1990. Sony entered again into the global computer market under the new [[VAIO]] brand, began in 1996.
