[[Chinese Indonesians|Indonesia's minority ethnic Chinese population]] were targeted in a pogrom in the lead-up to the [[Fall of Suharto|downfall]] of the [[Suharto]] regime. The events were mainly in the cities of [[Medan]], [[Jakarta]], and [[Surakarta]], with smaller incidents in other parts of [[Indonesia]].

Under the Suharto regime, there had been rampant and systematic [[discrimination against Chinese Indonesians]].
