===Second World War=== Among many schools evacuated to Cornwall (notably [[Benenden]] Girls' School), 240 boys and 20 masters of [[Gresham's School]] were evacuated to the town from [[Holt, Norfolk|Holt]], [[Norfolk]], during the [[Second World War]], between June 1940 and March 1944.<ref>Benson, S.
