Many materials can be substituted for mica in numerous electrical, electronic, and insulation uses. Substitutes include [[acrylate polymer]]s, [[cellulose acetate]], [[fiberglass]], [[fishpaper]], [[nylon]], [[phenolic resin|phenolics]], [[polycarbonate]], [[polyester]], [[styrene]], [[polyvinyl chloride|vinyl-PVC]], and [[vulcanized fiber]].
