This is mainly attributed to the small scale of many farms, preventing the benefits of economies of scale.<ref name=":9" /> The ongoing economic crisis and devaluation of the Lebanese pound have also negatively impacted the agricultural sector, particularly through elevated costs for essential imports such as seeds and fertilizers. This economic strain compounds existing burdens for farmers, including escalating debts and inefficient agricultural practices.
