SpaceX's presence caused the median price for a home in the area to spike, increasing to $239,000 in April 2022, almost $100,000 higher than three years prior.{{r|lowry20220629}} BEDC purchased five lots in [[Starbase, Texas|Starbase]], totaling {{convert|2.3|acre|abbr=on}} near the SpaceX launch site, and renamed it as the "Stargate" subdivision.
