A dam constructed by the [[U.S. Army Corps of Engineers]] on the [[Cumberland River]] in 1966, and the lake it forms, were named [[Barkley Dam]] and [[Lake Barkley]] in Barkley's honor.<ref name=lakebarkley>"Lake Barkley". ''Lexington Herald-Leader''</ref> Many personal items owned by Barkley are displayed on the second floor of the historic house [[Whitehaven (Paducah, Kentucky)|Whitehaven]] in Paducah.
