On March 27, 2025, President [[Donald Trump]] signed an [[List of executive orders in the second presidency of Donald Trump|executive order]] that accused the [[Presidency of Joe Biden|prior administration]] of advancing a "corrosive ideology". Titled "Restoring Truth and Sanity to American History", the order directed Vice President [[JD Vance]], a member of the Smithsonian Board of Regents, to rid the institution of "improper, divisive, or anti-American" ideology.
