Babies born on New Year's Day are commonly called ''New Year babies''. These prizes are often donated by local businesses. Prizes may include various baby-related items such as [[Infant formula|baby formula]], [[blanket|baby blankets]], [[diaper]]s, and [[gift certificate]]s to stores which specialise in baby-related merchandise.
