==Education== ===Postsecondary=== * [[South Texas College]] has a total of more than 27,000 students attending its five campuses in Hidalgo and Starr counties, and the eSTC virtual campus. The main campus is in McAllen. ===Primary and secondary schools=== The [[McAllen Independent School District]] serves most of the city followed by the [[Valley View Independent School District (Hidalgo County, Texas)|Valley View Independent School District]] and the [[Sharyland Independent School District]]. Portions of the city extend into the [[Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District]], which operates two elementary schools within the McAllen city limits. The [[Hidalgo Independent School District]], [[Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Independent School District]] also serve McAllen.
