===Foreign Secretary (1955)===
Macmillan was [[Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs (UK)|Foreign Secretary]] in April–December 1955 in the government of Anthony Eden, who had taken over as prime minister from the retiring Churchill. Returning from the [[Geneva Summit (1955)|Geneva Summit]] of that year he made headlines by declaring: 'There ain't gonna be no war.'{{sfn|Fisher|1982|p=150}} Of the role of Foreign Secretary Macmillan observed:
