Ellsberg was married twice. His first marriage was in 1952 to Carol Cummings, a graduate of [[Radcliffe College|Radcliffe]] (now [[Harvard College]]) whose father was a Marine Corps brigadier general. It lasted 13 years before ending in divorce (at her request, as he stated in his memoir ''Secrets''). They have two children, [[Robert Ellsberg]] and [[Mary Ellsberg]]. In 1970, he married Patricia Marx, daughter of toy maker [[Louis Marx]].
