[[Escort carrier]] [[USS St. Lo (CVE-63)|USS ''Midway'' (CVE-63)]] was commissioned on 17 August 1943. She was renamed ''St. Lo'' on 10 October 1944 to clear the name ''Midway'' for a large fleet aircraft carrier,<ref name="St Lo">{{cite web |title=A brief history of the U.S.S.
