[[Sedan (automobile)|Sedans]] are a favoured segment in China due to their spacious interiors and boot space. In 2019, the brand sold 1.6 million of them in China. On 26 July 2023 Volkswagen announced its investment of $700 million in Chinese EV maker [[XPeng]] for purchasing 4.99% stake of the company.
