Contemporary Tongans often have strong ties to overseas lands. Many Tongans have emigrated to [[Tongan Australians|Australia]], [[Tongan New Zealanders|New Zealand]], or the [[Tongan Americans|United States]] to seek employment and a higher standard of living.
