===Early years=== In its early years, One Nation's policies were said to be synonymous with opposition to [[affirmative action]] for Aboriginal communities. Some key themes of Pauline Hanson's 1998 maiden speech were opposition to what she said were increasingly high rates of immigration from Asian countries and an argument for [[economic protectionism|economic protectionist]] policies.<ref name="auto"/><ref name="Charlton, P 1998">Charlton, P. 1998.
