Three ''fleurs-de-lis'' appeared in the personal coat of arms of Grandmaster [[Alof de Wignacourt]] who ruled the [[History of Malta under the Order of Saint John|Malta]] between 1601 and 1622. His nephew [[Adrien de Wignacourt]], who was Grandmaster himself from 1690 to 1697, also had a similar coat of arms with three ''fleurs-de-lis''.

The town of [[Santa Venera]] has three red ''fleurs-de-lis'' on its flag and coat of arms. These are derived from [[Wignacourt Arch|an arch]] which was part of the [[Wignacourt Aqueduct]] that had three sculpted ''fleurs-de-lis'' on top, as they were the heraldic symbols of [[Alof de Wignacourt]], the Grand Master who financed its building.
