Reeve's widow, Dana, headed the Christopher Reeve Foundation after his death. Although a non-smoker, she was diagnosed with lung cancer on August 9, 2005. Following Reeve's death, the [[Society for Neuroscience]] added his name to their satellite symposium dedicated to stem cell research.
