Crosby and his family lived in the San Francisco area for many years. In 1963, he and his wife Kathryn moved with their three young children from Los Angeles to a $175,000 ten-bedroom Tudor estate in [[Hillsborough, California|Hillsborough]], formerly owned by fellow horseman [[Lindsay C. Howard]], one of Crosby's closest friends, because they did not want to raise their children in Hollywood, according to son Nathaniel.
