==Geography==
Woodland Park is located at the eastern intersection of [[U.S. Highway 24 (Colorado)|U.S. Highway 24]] and [[Colorado State Highway 67|State Highway 67]].  (The highways [[overlap (road)|overlap]] west to [[Divide, Colorado|Divide]].)

According to the [[United States Census Bureau]], the city has a total area of {{convert|5.7|sqmi|km2}}, all of it land.

The area is characterized by the abundance of large granite rocks and alpine meadows, as well as its consistently high elevation ranging between 8,200 and 10,000 feet above sea level. The climate is considered arid which causes the surrounding forests to become very dry, posing a significant fire threat in combination with a large proportion of lightning strikes and high mountain winds. ===Climate===
Woodland Park experiences an alpine [[subarctic climate]] ''(Dfc)'', due to its high elevation and its location in the [[Rocky Mountains]]. Summers are warm, but much milder than summers at lower elevations, such as in [[Colorado Springs, Colorado|Colorado Springs]], [[Denver, Colorado|Denver]], or the [[Colorado Eastern Plains|plains to the east]]. Nights are cool, even chilly in summer.
