As of the 2020 U.S. census, there were 6,528 people and 2,401 households in the town. The population density was {{convert|129.8|PD/sqmi|PD/km2|sp=us|adj=off}}. There were 2,575 housing units in the town. The racial makeup of the town was 89.89% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 0.84% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], 0.19% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|American Indian]], 2.82% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]], 1.01% from [[Race (United States Census)|other races]], and 5.24% from two or more races.
