==Geography==
Vivian is located in western Lyman County {{convert|1|mi}} north of [[Interstate 90]], with access from Exit 214, and {{convert|1.5|mi}} east of [[U.S. Route 83]]. Via I-90 it is {{convert|23|mi}} east to [[Kennebec, South Dakota|Kennebec]], the Lyman [[county seat]], and the same distance west to [[Murdo, South Dakota|Murdo]], the seat of neighboring [[Jones County, South Dakota|Jones County]]. US-83 leads north {{convert|34|mi}} to [[Pierre, South Dakota|Pierre]], the state capital.
