==Geography== According to the [[U.S. Census Bureau]], the county has a total area of {{convert|329|sqmi}}, of which {{convert|322|sqmi}} is land and {{convert|7.1|sqmi}} (2.2%) is water.<ref name="GR1">{{cite web|url=https://www.census.gov/geographies/reference-files/time-series/geo/gazetteer-files.html|publisher=[[United States Census Bureau]]|access-date=April 23, 2011|date=February 12, 2011|title=US Gazetteer files: 2010, 2000, and 1990}}</ref> [[Brasstown Bald]], the highest mountain in Georgia, rises in southeast Union County, straddling the [[Towns County, Georgia|Towns County]] line. The central and northern portion of Union County is located in the [[Hiwassee River]] sub-basin of the [[Tennessee River|Middle Tennessee-Hiwassee]] basin, while the southwestern portion of the county is located in the [[Ocoee River]] sub-basin of the same larger watershed.
