==Cemetery church== The brothers D. M. and N. M. Polezhaev, wealthy merchants, funded the construction of a cemetery church, laid down on 26 September 1869 and built to the design of architect N. P. Grebyonki.<ref name="temples">{{cite web|url=http://temples.ru/card.php?ID=7451|script-title=ru:Церковь Иконы Божией Матери Тихвинская в Александро-Невской лавре|access-date=25 April 2019|publisher=temples.ru|language=Russian}}</ref> The church was consecrated on 2 February 1873 in the name of the [[icon]] of the [[Theotokos of Tikhvin|Tikhvin Mother of God]], which from about 1876 became the common name of the cemetery.<ref name="lavra2"/><ref name="temples"/><ref name="lavra">{{cite web|url=https://lavra.spb.ru/about/hramy-i-pamjatniki/448-cerkov-tihvinskoj-ikony-bozhiej-materi.html|script-title=ru:Церковь Тихвинской иконы Божией Матери |access-date=26 April 2019|publisher=lavra.spb.ru|language=Russian}}</ref> Two icons, one of [[Dimitry of Rostov|Saint Dimitry of Rostov]], and one of [[Mary of Egypt|Saint Mary of Egypt]], were painted by [[Pavel Pleshanov]] for the church.<ref name="en">{{cite web|url=http://www.encspb.ru/object/2804676159?lc=ru|script-title=ru:Церковь БОЖИЕЙ МАТЕРИ ТИХВИНСКОЙ (кладбищенская) в Александро-Невской Свято-Троицкой лавре|access-date=26 April 2019|publisher=Sankt Peterburg Entsiklopediya|language=Russian}}</ref> In 1825 the church and cemetery were visited by [[Alexander I of Russia|Emperor Alexander I]], prior to his journey to [[Taganrog]].<ref name="lavra"/> [[File:Tserkvy SPb 02 2012 4424.jpg|thumb|left|The former cemetery church]] The burial vault of Polezhaev family was in the crypt of the church, and in 1901 the church underwent renovations.<ref name="temples"/> In 1918 archpriest Peter Skipetrov of the [[Gate Church]], who had been shot and killed during an early attempt by the [[Bolsheviks]] to requisition the monastery on 19 January 1918, was buried under the church's altar.<ref name="CW"/><ref name="en"/> The church was closed in 1931 and between 1935 and 1937 it was converted into a [[post office]], with the destruction of its facades and interiors.<ref name="temples"/><ref name="lavra"/> With the establishment of the State Museum of Urban Sculpture, the building housed its scientific department, and now houses an exhibition hall as part of the museum.<ref name="lavra2"/><ref name="temples"/><ref name="lavra"/>
