==Geography== [[File:Tallapoosa, Georgia City Hall.JPG|thumb|City Hall]] Tallapoosa is located in the western part of Haralson County in northwest Georgia. U.S. 78 runs through the city from east to west as Atlanta Street, leading southeast {{convert|7|mi|km|abbr=on}} to [[Waco, Georgia|Waco]] and west {{convert|9|mi|km|abbr=on}} to [[Fruithurst, Alabama|Fruithurst]], [[Alabama]]. GA-100 runs north–south through the city concurrent with U.S. 78, leading north {{convert|21|mi|km|abbr=on}} to [[Cedartown, Georgia|Cedartown]] and south {{convert|16|mi|km|abbr=on}} to [[Bowdon, Georgia|Bowdon]]. [[Interstate 20 in Georgia|Interstate 20]] passes about {{convert|5|mi|km|abbr=on}} south of the city center, with access from exit 5 (GA-100). I-20 leads east {{convert|58|mi|km|abbr=on}} to [[Atlanta]] and west {{convert|99|mi|km|abbr=on}} to [[Birmingham, Alabama|Birmingham]], [[Alabama]]. According to the [[United States Census Bureau|U.S. Census Bureau]], the city has a total area of {{convert|26.0|km2|order=flip}}, of which {{convert|0.07|km2|order=flip|2}}, or 0.27%, are water.<ref name="Census 2010"/>
