The original RUNOFF [[text formatting|type-setting]] program for [[Compatible Time-Sharing System|CTSS]] was written by [[Jerome H. Saltzer]] circa 1964. [[Robert Morris (cryptographer)|Bob Morris]] and [[Doug McIlroy]] translated that from [[MAD (programming language)|MAD]] to [[BCPL]].<ref>{{cite web |title=Multics Features
