==Geography==
San Lucas is located in southeastern Monterey County at {{coord|36|07|44|N|121|01|14|W|type:city}}, on the east side of the Salinas Valley.<ref name=gnis /> [[U.S. Route 101]] runs along the western edge of the community, leading northwest {{convert|8|mi|0}} to King City and {{convert|55|mi}} [[Salinas, California|Salinas]], the [[county seat]], while leading southeast {{convert|42|mi}} to [[Paso Robles, California|Paso Robles]]. [[California State Route 198]] leads east from San Lucas across the [[San Andreas Fault|San Andreas Rift Zone]] and the [[Diablo Range]] {{convert|48|mi}} to [[Coalinga, California|Coalinga]].

According to the [[United States Census Bureau]], the San Lucas CDP has a total area of {{convert|0.4|sqmi|km2}}, all of it land.<ref name="CenPopGazetteer2022"/>

This region experiences warm (but not hot) and dry summers, with no average monthly temperatures above 71.6&nbsp;°F.
