=== Before the village (pre-colonization β 1931) === The area where Roslyn Estates is located was originally inhabited by the [[Matinecock (tribe)|Matinecock]] [[Native Americans in the United States|Native Americans]].<ref name=":5" /> European colonists started to settle in the area in the 17th century β specifically settlers of [[Dutch people|Dutch]] and [[English people|English]] heritage.
