==Geography== Palatine Bridge is located in the western part of Montgomery County at {{coord|42.910890|-74.574827|type:city_region:US|format=dms|display=inline}} (42.910890, -74.574827).<ref name="GR1">{{cite web|url=https://www.census.gov/geographies/reference-files/time-series/geo/gazetteer-files.html|publisher=[[United States Census Bureau]]|accessdate=April 23, 2011|date=February 12, 2011|title=US Gazetteer files: 2010, 2000, and 1990}}</ref> It is on the north side of the [[Mohawk River]] across from the village of [[Canajoharie (village), New York|Canajoharie]] and the [[New York State Thruway]]. [[New York State Route 5]] (Grand Street) passes through Palatine Bridge, where it intersects with [[New York State Route 10]] (Lafayette Street). NY-5, following the Mohawk River, leads east {{convert|22|mi}} to [[Amsterdam, New York|Amsterdam]] and northwest {{Convert|18|mi}} to [[Little Falls, New York|Little Falls]], while NY-10 leads north {{convert|19|mi}} to [[Caroga Lake, New York|Caroga Lake]] and south into Canajoharie village and thence to [[Sharon Springs, New York|Sharon Springs]], {{convert|11|mi|0}} distant. According to the [[U.S. Census Bureau]], the village of Palatine Bridge has a total area of {{convert|0.99|sqmi|2}}, of which {{convert|0.92|sqmi|2}} are land and {{convert|0.07|sqmi|2}}, or 7.25%, are water.<ref name="CenPopGazetteer2024"/> The Mohawk River, here part of the [[Erie Canal]] system, accounts for the village's water area.
