The first occurrence in English of ''ontology'' as recorded by the ''OED'' (''[[Oxford English Dictionary]]'', online edition, 2008) came in ''[[Archeologia Philosophica Nova]]'' or ''New Principles of Philosophy'' by [[Gideon Harvey]].
