==Geography== Oglethorpe is located in south-central Macon County at {{coord|32|17|36|N|84|3|45|W|type:city}} (32.293328, -84.062616).<ref name="GR1">{{cite web|url=https://www.census.gov/geographies/reference-files/time-series/geo/gazetteer-files.html|publisher=[[United States Census Bureau]]|access-date=2011-04-23|date=2011-02-12|title=US Gazetteer files: 2010, 2000, and 1990}}</ref> It sits on high ground west of the [[Flint River]], which forms the boundary between Oglethorpe and the larger city of [[Montezuma, Georgia|Montezuma]]. [[Georgia State Route 49]] passes through the center of town as Chatham Street. It leads east into Montezuma and northeast {{convert|15|mi}} to [[Marshallville, Georgia|Marshallville]], while to the southwest it leads {{convert|20|mi}} to [[Americus, Georgia|Americus]]. [[Georgia State Route 90|State Route 90]] enters from the north on North Randolph Street and Sumter Street and leaves to the east on Chatham Street. It connects Oglethorpe with [[Rupert, Georgia|Rupert]] {{convert|18|mi}} to the northwest and with [[Vienna, Georgia|Vienna]] {{convert|23|mi}} to the southeast. [[Georgia State Route 128|State Route 128]] leaves Oglethorpe to the north with SR 90 but leads {{Convert|19|mi}} to [[Reynolds, Georgia|Reynolds]]. [[Georgia State Route 26|State Route 26]] (Riverview Drive) passes through the south side of Oglethorpe, leading east through Montezuma {{convert|36|mi}} to [[Hawkinsville, Georgia|Hawkinsville]] and west {{convert|17|mi}} to [[Ellaville, Georgia|Ellaville]]. According to the [[U.S. Census Bureau]], Oglethorpe has a total area of {{convert|2.1|sqmi}}, of which {{convert|0.05|sqmi|2}}, or 2.34%, are water.<ref name="CenPopGazetteer2022"/>
