Much of the county is flat and coastal, with an extensive [[shoreline]] and many beaches along the [[Jersey Shore]], including [[Barnegat Light, New Jersey|Barnegat Light]], [[Beach Haven, New Jersey|Beach Haven]], [[Harvey Cedars, New Jersey|Harvey Cedars]], [[Lavallette, New Jersey|Lavallette]], [[Mantoloking, New Jersey|Mantoloking]], [[Seaside Heights, New Jersey|Seaside Heights]], [[Seaside Park, New Jersey|Seaside Park]], [[Ship Bottom, New Jersey|Ship Bottom]], and [[Surf City, New Jersey|Surf City]]. Ocean County's area comprises 31.3% water. The coastal county along the [[Atlantic Ocean]] has a [[humid subtropical climate]] (''Cfa'' and including the coast). In recent years, average temperatures in the county seat of Toms River have ranged from a low of {{convert|24|F}} in January to a high of {{convert|85|F}} in July, although a record low of {{convert|-19|F}} was recorded in January 1982 and a record high of {{convert|105|F}} was recorded in July 1999.
