== Aboriginal heritage ==
Several Aboriginal communities inhabited the region and had a spiritual connection to the land, including the [[Wiyabal]] people, [[Yugambeh language|Nganduwal]] people, and [[Galibal language|Galibal]], [[Githabul]] speaking peoples. The [[Wiyabal]] people lived at Nightcap Range for at least 4000 years.<ref name=":1" /> The region is the base for the [[Bundjalung people|Bundjalung]] nation.
