Members of Murder, Inc. were Italian and Jewish gangsters from the gangs of the [[Lower East Side]] and the [[Brooklyn]] neighborhoods of [[Brownsville, Brooklyn|Brownsville]], [[East New York, Brooklyn|East New York]], and [[Ocean Hill, Brooklyn|Ocean Hill]]. They committed crimes in [[New York City]], acting as enforcers for New York Jewish mobster [[Louis Buchalter|Louis "Lepke" Buchalter]], and they accepted murder contracts from mob bosses all around the United States.<ref name="AO"/>
