Towne Hill runs in a {{convert|2|mi|km|adj=on}} ridge (~{{convert|900|ft|m|abbr=on|disp=semicolon}}) along the northern edge of the city. According to the [[United States Census Bureau]], the city has a total area of {{convert|10.3|sqmi|km2}}, of which {{convert|10.2|sqmi|km2}} is land and 0.10% is water. The [[Winooski River]] flows west along the south edge of downtown village and is fed by several smaller tributaries that cut through residential districts.
