==Geography== [[File:Minooka pasture 2008.jpg|left|thumb|Open fields near Minooka, Illinois]] The center of the village is in the northeast corner of Grundy County. The village limits extend north into the southeast corner of Kendall County and east into Will County. The village is bordered to the east and south by the village of [[Channahon, Illinois|Channahon]]. [[Interstate 80]] passes through the north side of the village, with access from Exit 122. I-80 leads northeast {{convert|11|mi}} to [[Joliet, Illinois|Joliet]] and west {{convert|45|mi}} to [[LaSalle, Illinois|LaSalle]]. [[Chicago Loop|Downtown Chicago]] is {{convert|48|mi}} northeast of Minooka via Interstates 80 and [[Interstate 55|55]]. [[U.S. Route 6]] runs along part of the southern border of Minooka; the highway leads east into the center of Channahon and southwest {{convert|9|mi|0}} to [[Morris, Illinois|Morris]]. According to the 2021 census gazetteer files, Minooka has a total area of {{convert|9.48|sqmi|km2|2}}, of which {{convert|9.41|sqmi|km2|2}} (or 99.22%) is land and {{convert|0.07|sqmi|km2|2}} (or 0.78%) is water.<ref name="gaz2021">{{Cite web |publisher=United States Census Bureau |title=Gazetteer Files |url=https://www.census.gov/geographies/reference-files/time-series/geo/gazetteer-files.html |access-date=June 29, 2022 |website=Census.gov}}</ref> The [[DuPage River]], a south-flowing tributary of the [[Des Plaines River]], forms part of the eastern boundary of the village.{{clear left}}
